Hello Everyone,
Looking back over the past week, I finally got to sit down at my sewing machine for a little sewing time! Not sure why it is, but I sometimes get distracted with non-sewing quilting things... does that every happen to you? Any way, I am working on the Butterfly Garden Quilt by Judy Niemeyer. The pattern is available here. As many of you know, I a Judy maniac, which is why I became one of her Certified Instructors all those years ago.
This quilt that I am making now is a custom colored design that we mocked up in Quiltster for A Quilter's Oasis in Mesa, AZ where I will be teaching this class early next year. You can sign up here. They will have this available as kits too! So I need to get this sample made for class!
Even though I love designing my own patterns and also design paper piecing too, it never ceases to amaze me at what you can do with when paper piecing that you cannot achieve with traditional piecing. The accuracy that you achieve with paper piecing is beyond compare.
Even if you have paper pieced before or if you have been wanting to learn, you may want to join my Quilt Along that I began on my Watch Me Wednesday Episode 10. It is not too late to join! You can get caught up on the Episodes by watching them here on my YouTube Channel. I will be doing the third episode this Wednesday at my usual time 1:30 MST on my Facebook Page here.
Don't you just love the colors that I am working with? The purples, yellows, greens, and Fuchsia is fantastic. I even had help this week. My Quilt Inspector Number One was helping quite a bit. It never gets boring in my studio at all. Especially when the quilt police is so cute.
If you would like to learn and have a WHOLE class for life... I do teach on Craftsy! One of my classes is a Judy Niemeyer class... Paper Piecing the Quiltworx Dresden Plate. Here is a 50% link for you to purchase the class if you like, just click here. The other class is called Contemporary Curves: Double Wedding Ring Quilts. Just click here to get 50% off this class. The discount will show up in your cart. Both classes are paper pieced too!
So I have LOTS of opportunities for you to learn how to paper piece. Great jumping off classes for you to learn more difficult patterns. I know you will enjoy!
But I must give you a look at the mockup of the finished Butterfly Garden Quilt that we did in Quiltster. The one that I am actually sewing will look just like this. What do you think? I know I am in love!
Hope to see you tomorrow on Watch Me Wednesday! Have a great day!
Until Next Time...
