Hello Everyone,
This summer has been super busy for me. But this past week I was able to sneak out to Vegas for 3 days!! Woohoo! We don't gamble, but we love to see a good show. We saw Rod Stewart for the 6th time. It never gets old!
But also this summer I was able to squeeze in making a new quilt for our bed. I made a spread though. It is about 124" x 124", I just didn't want a bed skirt and this way the hubs and I don't fight over the covers.... LOL!
I used Kaffe Fassett's Artisan collection and a pattern that came from his marketing materials. It is called the Darling Duvet Cover. I just didn't make the duvet, I made it into a quilt as it suited me better. It is a free pattern and can be found here. When I made it I just modified the length of each strip.
Because it was so large, I just ended up quilting it with an edge to edge design on my long arm. Plus, it just didn't call for a custom quilting job. This quilt is entirely utilitarian in nature and also slept on by my kitty quilt inspectors.
Then once it was done, I wanted to dress it up more and make it an ensemble. So I purchased some shams and a solid quilt... yes, purchased. I got them from Stein Mart for a great price and I just couldn't pass them up. But I did have trouble choosing which color quilt... pear or raspberry?
Then I found this great "Happy" pillow. Perfect for this bed. I made two small pillows with ADORABLE trim that I found. I also am reusing the pillow forms from my previous decorative pillows. I have a few more pillows to make, but I have to sneak them in between projects.
I am super happy with how the bed turned out!!!
Until Next Time...
