Hello Everyone,
Boy do we have something BIG for you! We have an All Star line up of Craftsy Instructors who are going to give you a little tour around their classes and give you some tips along the way. If you are new to Craftsy and have been wanting to take a class but were unsure, this could be your big chance to find just that right class for you! Just visit each of the blogs throughout the week to learn a little and then enter to win a FREE Class!!
I thought I would share a little about my class and talk about some of the techniques you will learn. My class is called Paper Piecing the Quiltworx Dresden Plate. As most of you know, I am a Certified Judy Niemeyer Instructor and I travel the country teaching, lecturing, showing these beautiful quilts. I have been doing this for many years as well as designing and publishing my own patterns and books. I have worked very hard to get to where I am. When the opportunity came to teach for Craftsy, I loved the idea as I could reach many more students!! And it is a wonderful platform to take a class. Once you purchase the online class you have it for life and can watch it over and over and even ask me questions! Yes, I DO answer them too!!!
In my class you will learn soooooo many things!! First and foremost you will learn to paper piece the as Judy Niemeyer would teach! A very organized and methodical way to piece. No guessing if your fabric will cover, no holding your fabric and paper up to a light to check, and most of all quick chain piecing!
You will also learn quick cutting methods for your fabrics. You don't have to worry about the math here, it is all done for you and the fabric pieces are oversized for you so that they WILL fit your piece! That is such a time saver!
I will also teach you about floating points. Have you ever pieced a block and the points have gone all the way out to the seam allowance? Then when you sew the seam the point get caught in the seam allowance and now you don't have a perfect star or triangle or NYB... etc. Floating points are backed off the seam allowance thereby not even coming close to being chopped off!! How fantastic is that?
These are just a few of the things that you will learn in this class! It is jammed packed with so much more like sewing curves, partial seams, using no pins... the list goes on. So come and learn how to piece this beautiful block and make it your own!!!
