Two weekends ago I had the opportunity to teach in my own studio! Yup, no traveling! I was happy to be at home and teach a phenomenal group of ladies, who did some of the most awesome work.
This class is so fun to teach as the wall hanging is really a great size to hang anywhere in the house. Some of the advantages of this pattern and class too is that you learn multiple techniques in just a few days. Curved piecing, floating points, inserting a flange, pieced borders, and of course the Judy Niemeyer way of paper piecing.
Let's take a little look inside my studio and at the student's work...
Me again... I know, I know... where are my regular quilty posts? They are coming I promise. But in the meantime, I teamed up with my friend Amy Smart a while ago to do this giveaway today!!!
Amy Smart of Diary of A Quilter is sponsoring my giveaway today.
I bet you are all wondering who won the Anne Kelle ReMix Fat Eighth Bundle???
One of the things that has been keeping me busy, was the Flights and Fantasies Quilt Show. It is a show I began 3 years ago and have become very fond of as well as the people who help make it happen.
I wanted to share a few photos with you of the show and the Viewer's Choice Winners too!
As of recently, I have had so much going on, I don't know where to begin. Anyway, I have SOOOOOOO much to share with you, I am not sure what to share first. I still have Peru pics to show, Glacier Star Class pics, new things in the shop, AND highlights from the Flights and Fantasies Quilt Show. See what I mean by backtracking and Flip Flopping??
I think I will begin with the Glacier Star Class pics and slowly whittle my way through the others. I hope that this is okay with all of you?? Here goes...
I have been teaching Glacier Star in NJ at Pennington Quilt Works. Let me tell you these ladies are fantastic! I am impressed with how they are approaching their colors and they are picking up the technique really quickly too!
Well, I just finished a coordinating a week long quilt show and I am pooped! This is just a quick post (before I show you pics from the quilt show), to offer up a giveaway!
Would you like to win a $25 Gift Certificate to CVQW??
It has been sometime since I blogged, but I am back! I must tell you it has been a hectic month for me, a VERY BIG deadline has been met and my time is somewhat "freeing" up. Right now I am knee deep in something that is very near and dear to my heart. A quilt show that I began 3 years ago because my husband's hobby is flying and mine is quilting. I wanted to blend the two together and have a quilt show at the New England Air Museum. Best of all this show benefits the museum, which is a non-profit organization that has a wonderful and rich history inside it's doors.
By blending the two together, it make for a very unique venue. Not only quilters come, but families, spouses, friends to see not just the quilts, but the planes and history!
On Sunday, we hung the show and Monday the weeklong show opened! We have some spectacular quilts and in addition a special exhibit of WWI quilts.
Let's get a little sneak peek.
We are "SEW" excited that it is National Sewing Month!!! To celebrate we are running a couple of contests!!! One on our blog and one on Facebook.
How would you like to win this bundle??
I know it has been a while since my last blog post, I have had my head buried deep in fabric and sewing. Working hard towards a deadline. Lots to finish and no time for anything else. Send some good thoughts to me to make it successfully! Also, gearing up for the 3rd annual Flights and Fantasies Quilt Show that I founded. So lots going on!
But I did say that I would show you some more pics from Peru and I am back to do that!
One of our most favorite things in Peru is seeing all the Llamas. And there are lots of different kinds too! The next few blog posts will be all related to Llamas and their wool... oh maybe some food will be thrown in there too.
Boy am I having fun weeding through all the photos that I took. I am trying to choose very carefully, but it could take a few blog posts to get through the ones that I want to show you. I hope you don't mind?
On our second day in Cusco, we visited Saqsaywaman. It is just on the outskirts of Cusco and in Incan time served as a fortress. You can read more about it by clicking here.
I know many of you have been awaiting some photos from my second trip to Peru. So I thought I would space them out a little bit for you. This blog post has a few photos from our first day in Cusco, Peru. Cusco is the first stop for us on our way to Mach Picchu. It was known as the Incan capital. You can read quite a bit about Cusco by clicking here.
One of the first notable places in Cusco that we visited is the Plaza de Armas. It is a beautiful place to walk around and is surrounded by wonderful buildings and church, but most of all culture.
You are all probably wondering why I haven't blogged for a while? Well there are two reasons...
1. I was away in Peru, hiking for 9 days.
2. I am working on a super duper top secret project. Can't talk about it right now... soon though...
Anyway, I have a giveaway for you then in my next blog post, I will share photos from my trip to Peru! I took 1060, do you believe it? But I promise I won't share them all, promise!
This is a first for me and for CVQW. We are participating in Sew Mama Sew's Free Fabric Friday!!! What that means for you is that you have a chance to win a $30 Gift Certificate from CVQW. You can use it on any thing that you would like in our shop!! How cool is that?
Over a week ago, I taught a great group of ladies to paper piece the Judy Niemeyer way. The class was the Witches Brew Bed Runner. Some of the things that I like the most about teaching this method of paper piecing is the organization, and design of the patterns. They are soooo well thought out, that all the math is taken out for us.
One of the other things that I sooooo enjoy is seeing all the students versions and colors that they have chosen. But what I LOVE the MOST is when my students exclaim that they love this method! Yup... LOVE!
Here are some of the photos from the class with the Apple Valley Quilters.
With summer time comes fun! This post is sure to bring you some fun. My friend and fellow blogger, Rachel at Stitched in Color asked me if I would help her out with her Summer Long ~ Purge Along with a couple of giveaways.
