Hello Everyone,
I can't begin to tell you how excited that I am to be chatting with you about my Signature Batik Collection from Island Batik designed by Kathy Engle for me. This collection inspired me because so many people love the cool blue colors paired with the lavenders.
What made me love this collection was the rich deep cobalt blues, and the deep dark purples that are paired with those cool colors. They just make all the fabrics sing in this collection. And I hope that you feel that way too. The fabric will soon be available in my online shop! But I am sure that it won't last long... so watch for that announcement!
Over this week, during the 5 day blog hop you will get to meet some of my very talented designing friends, who will be offering their insight and talents into the Blue Moon Collection. We will also be offering giveaways too! So you will see a variety of things all week long! There will also be a great big giveaway with Aurifil too! Did I mention that I curated a 50 collection of Aurifil threads to coordinate with the Blue Moon Fabric collection? Yes, I did and you can find it here.
Each day during the blog hop, I will also highlight each pattern that I designed around this fabric collection. Yes, the patterns are available now on my site here, and here, as well as in your local quilt shop! If they don't have them yet, definitely ask them if they can stock them.
Today, I would like to highlight one of my favorite patterns that I designed for this collection and it is Pansy Garden. This is a basic Drunkard's Path block, but because of the way that I played with the light and dark fabric colors, I was able to create "flowers". One of the things that I love about quilting is adding curves into a quilt. I think that it adds interest to any quilt, gentle or severe curves, it just doesn't matter to me.
What? You say you never had pieced a curve, then take a look at my YouTube tutorial here on piecing a curve. You won't be disappointed. You know that you can subscribe to my YouTube channel too and never miss another tutorial! Just click here to subscribe. But I digress.... By using the curves and playing with the color in this fabric collection you can see the "illusion" of flowers that I created. I really am smitten with this pattern and it was quick to piece together. Just make sure you follow the layout.
Here is are two pics of the quilt and quilting before I sent them to Island Batik to be professionally photographed. I always try to do this, but sometimes I forget. It is always good to document your quilts if you can.
I hope that now that you have watched the curved piecing video, you may want to give my pattern a try. If you do, I would love to see a pic of your quilt top when you are done!! Please send it along.
Oh and I have one more pic I want to share with you... Here is a pic of my booth at Fall Quilt Market 2017. You can see Pansy Garden hanging on the corner there. Throughout the blog hop I will show you some of the great things that I had in the booth!!!
There is one other stop on the blog hop today and that is Island Batik's Blog. So please hop over there and see what they have to say about this wonderful collection. Below is a schedule for the entire week, you can hop to any of the blogs any time of the week after they have posted theirs on the day they are scheduled below.
