Hello Everyone,
Quilt Market prep is in high gear here at CVQW! One of the things that I have been doing to get ready for Quilt Market is prep work for launching my book to the quilt shops. I will be doing a Schoolhouse Session. That is where I have about 20 minutes or so to present my book and some of the quilts from the book to the quilt shops.
I thought it would be a good idea to "match" my book.... black and white with a Splash of Color! So, I decided to make a little dress.
I picked up these two patterns and was hopeful that I would be able to get a shirt done too, but I only had time for the dress. I knew exactly what I had to do to make it match my book.
Quickly got out the pattern, read through it and chose my fabrics. Since I used to be a garment maker this was like riding a bicycle... it all comes back to you (quickly)! I really do love making garments. I think the last time I made one was in 2007. Off I go....
I cut out all the pieces and then began sewing. Along the way, I added my own little touches.
The bodice is done and you can see, I added some edging to the sleeves (not called for on the pattern), and changed out the "corset" too! Of course the dress is not all one fabric as shown in the pic above. Then onto the rest...
I made the skirt in the opposite... black. So there you have it, the dress that I will wear at schoolhouse... black and white with a Splash of Color.
If you are going to Quilt Market, please come to my schoolhouse, one of my demos, or my signing! I would love to see you!
Oh and here is my book.... just click here.
Until Next Time...
