Hello Everyone,
Over the last couple of days, I began selecting fabrics from the shop to make a NEW project. I am so excited to begin sewing again after lots of travel. The planning phase always seems to take me the longest. I tend to agonize over the design and where I want the colors to fall. So I really take my time. Does anyone else have that same problem? Well, maybe not a problem, just the part that goes a little slower.
I spent lots of time pulling bolts of batiks from the inventory and seeing which ones I liked working with one another. Some of the colors I pulled are outside my box. Aqua is generally not a color I tend to work with, but I have grown fond of it lately. I find that it is a good exercise to push yourself outside of your comfort zone or "box" every once in a while. I tell this to my students all the time. If you don't do that then everything always looks the same. Why not make a different choice? You never know you might like it, right?
Anyway, I am loving the purples, pinks, wines, and oranges and they all play really nicely with the aquas and teals. After pulling all these bolts, I took some out of the mix and then added some to the mix and this is what I finally settled on....
I think they are going to shine together in the project. These are all batiks, and for those of you who know me well, I don't always have just batiks, I like to mix prints, solids, and batiks. So this is another element that isn't always the norm for me.
I can't wait to get it going. The only thing that I can tell you is that it is a Judy Niemeyer project. I will be sharing my progress along the way too!
Speaking of batiks...
We just received these beautiful new Robert Kaufman Artisan Batiks in and they are on the site!!! This collection is called Ring Toss and can be found by clicking here. ALL batiks can be found by clicking here.
Stay tuned for progress photos on my new project!!
Until Next Time...
