It was wonderful to spend Christmas with family and withdrawal from the computer a little bit. I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday, I certainly did! One of the highlights was giving the Jelly Roll Race Quilt that I blogged about here
, to my son for Christmas.
I finished it just in time too! I quilted it with a very modern design that I thought was "man" friendly. I had also done this design on Stephanie's quilt she had made for her son. You can see his quilt here
I added a beautiful batik for the border, which can be found in the shop here
along with the Bali Pops that I used for the quilt. The Bali Pops can be found by clicking here
I thought that the browns, blues, and creams made for a great manly color scheme. Although it does remind me of blueberry pie.
I forgot to measure the entire quilt but it is big! My son is about 6' 3".
The backing was also a beautiful dyed batik (found here
) and I used a brown batik for the binding.
Here is my happy guy! He was being funny and asked me if I used a "high quality batting" to keep him extra warm. I replied that no skimping was involved in the making of this quilt.
I love him and was happy making it for him and to see the smile on his face!
