Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I was so excited when my cats saw this..

...an absolutely beautiful Pileated Woodpecker.  This is only the second time I have ever seen one so close and in our yard.  The first time, was about 14 years ago.

If you have never seen one of these beautiful birds they are large and noisy!  Noisy when they are pecking your tree.

I took a bunch of photos, but these are really the best out of them.  His head truly is a bright red and he has those gorgeous stripes down his neck.  A true sight to behold.  I say "he" because this was a male.  I provided a link below where you can read more about this bird.

Because he was moving his head so quickly, I had the camera on sport mode and just kept snapping.  You can click on the photos to enlarge for more detail.

He then flew over to one of our pine trees and was pecking under there for a little bit.  I swear I could have watched him all day.

You can click here for more information on the Pileated Woodpecker.

I hope you enjoyed this walk through nature interlude.

Don't forget to enter the giveaway going on here.

Until Next Time...
